Join Matt and Mark on the Front Porch as they discuss “4 Ways To Carry An Unquenchable Flame.” Lev. 6:12-13 says, “the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: & the priest shall burn WOOD on it EVERY MORNING, & lay the burnt offering in ORDER upon it; and he shall burn thereon the FAT OF THE PEACE offerings. 13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall NEVER go out.” 1) THE PROCESS: STEWARDSHIP. This fire was not man made. It came from the Presence of the Lord. We don’t have to start a fire. Our role is stewardship of the flame the Spirit starts. People who remain burning focus on stewarding what the Spirit has already given rather than starting man made fire. 2) THE PACE: STEADY SLOW BURN. The fire doesn’t have to be bigger it just has to be continually burning. People who remain burning focus on the slow burn of moment by moment communion with Jesus rather than making it bigger. 3) THE FUEL: SACRIFICE, ORDER, AND PEACE. This fire is fueled by wood, a sacrifice placed in order, & the fat of the peace offering. People who remain burning carry the sacrificial WOOD of their own cross, they set the living sacrifice of their lives in ORDER & they get fat on PEACE. If the fire is going out it’s because war and striving have been our diet instead of filling our hearts with the promise of SHALOM. 4) THE DURATION: NEVER ENDING. The flame is eternal. It is never to go out. The fiery love of Jesus toward us never goes out. We seek to return a never ending love. Those who remain burning do so because they’ve discovered a lifestyle of burning love for Jesus and they never need the script to change. It’s forever. All the days of our lives.
